In the end of July, Haifa Group in collaboration with Israel Railway Company launched a new railway extension and a cargo terminal in Haifa Negev production site.
The terminal spans 8 hectares and includes a storage area suitable for 3,000 containers, a control center and a garage for heavy mechanical equipment.
Several goals combined the drive for the huge investment and complicated project: the need to suit the site’s logistic capabilities to the expansion planned for the coming years, an aspiration to improve the performance of our entire supply chain and the commitment to sustainable development.
The establishment of the terminal is a part of the tremendous expansion of the entire production site, including the building of the blue ammonia (Blumonia™) plant, altogether aiming to improve our ability to provide efficient plant nutrition solutions and enhancing global food security while minimizing environmental harms.
The new terminal is planned to deliver about 2,400 tons of products daily, saving the traffic of lories on the roads, thus relieving traffic burdens and reducing the carbon footprint related to our product shipping by 50%.
"I thank the Israeli Railway Company for this collaboration that supports the growth of Haifa Group. This initiative is another expression of our unwavering commitment to pioneer a sustainable future” says Motti Levin, Haifa Group CEO.
