How it works

Note: Controlled release and slow release are not the same.
Controlled-release fertilizers (CRFs) and slow-release fertilizers (SRFs) both provide nutrients to plants gradually, but they differ in several ways. SRFs rely on microbial activity to release nutrients, while CRFs have a coating or other barrier that controls the release rate. As a result, CRFs offer more predictable and consistent nutrient release than SRFs. Additionally, CRFs can be tailored to specific plant needs, while SRFs have a more general release pattern.
