I came back recently from a trip to Zitácuaro a city in the Mexican state of Michoacán.
Blackberry production is steadily increasing in Mexico and Michoacan is the leading producer with more than 12,500 ha of blackberry and a production of more than 260,143 tons a year, which accounts for more than 95% of the country's total production. It is followed by far by the state of Jalisco, which only produces 7 thousand tons per year, according to 'Fresh Plaza'.
During my visit there I went on a field day with 50 growers, that was arranged by my wonderful colleagues from "Haifa Mexico".
The field day was conducted for two days.
On the first day I made a presentation about berries and all of Haifa's solutions for the ideal plant nutrition.
On the second day we made a field trip that was led by the a berries expert in Mexico - Dr. Prometeo Sánchez, who eplained us all about soil and the plant nutrition requirements.
It was very enlightning two days, very well organized, and I was honored to participate in it.
