Improved tomato quality with Multicote™ Agri and Nutrigation™

A field trial in Mexico studied the benefits of Multicote™ Agri in tomatoes grown in net-house. The results showed that nutritional program that combines Multicote Agri controlled release nutrition and Nutrigation™ improved yield quality and allowed for lower application rates, compared to the Nutrigation™ only.

The trial started in February 2010, was carried out in Verduras Finas del Altiplano farm, Huizache, S.L.P. México. Tomatoes of the cultivar 7705 (Nunhems) were grown in calcareous soil, and drip-irrigated.

Improved tomato quality with Multicote™ Agri and Nutrigation™

A combined treatment of both CRF and Nutrigation™ prooved to be synergetic for tomato yield. A substantial increase of the portion of extra-large and large fruits, thus increasing the grower’s premium.

Concluding comments: Usually, the difference in quality would have been a major benefit for the Haifa’s treatment, but as in the whole country, the selling price of this vegetable was not good during the year.

The Multicote’s treatment significantly increased the harvest quality, even during its development, the shade house structure weakened, and some wires that held the plants were broken by their weight.
